[Movie Review] Love aaj kal-review.
Here comes August 1.What do u think?yet another month? No yet another movie :)...Well, it just happens to be a new month.Actually its a saturday, another weekend and after silent rumination I could not help but consent my hearts avid desire for (yet another) a movie. It may even even sound asinine (to some of u) how I still have not lost interest given the trite or banal nature of these films. But thats the way my heart goes and thats the way I go... :)
Cogitating over the options available I sieved '17 again' and Love aaj kal(a hindi movie).'17 again' sounded like another teen/romance sort of a movie with Zac Effron effect which would make most girls scream[atleast in their hearts :)... and girls,if this is not you dont bother] while 'Love aaj kal' sounded like yet another feel good soft romantic movie and guess what i chose? Ya, am not gay!(just for laughs,no offense)
So here I am,yet another week end,yet another movie. The movie opened with ostentatious Deepika with her trademark smile dancing with Saif.As far the story goes first half is like a fast forward of the happenings of their first 2 years of relationship and then it becomes complicated with the individual decisions they take which they regret later and the climax is, is it too late or still do they both stand a chance? Some elements like Love, script, the modern city/village angle of story telling was pretty much similar to his(Imitaz Ali's) earlier film Jab we Met but that is where the similarity ends.
Saif has to carry almost the entire movie and though at times I found her wanting Deepika gives a notable performance. The movies also delineates parallely the love story of Saif's father's (played by Rishi kapoor)vernal years(also played by saif) as if Rishi Kapoor tells Saif(in the movie). In the flashback Saif romances a diffident or demure Neetu Singh which is pretty much similar to the main story and depicts the generation gap in approaching love.(love, aaj aur kal)
The movie is shot on San Fransico(as claimed in the movie,am not sure) and Delhi with some 'postcard snapshot' locations like bridge, high altitude restraunts etc.The costumes were fashionable and catchy.Pritam has yet again given his typical peppy music which at times gives a heard it before feel but given the feel good nature of the film it blends well with the movie.
Some might see it as a far fetched love story, while some might say its the same old love story of the past but if you are looking for a feel good love story this is definitely worth a watch.Regarding success of the movie,it is too early to predict as you may never know about our people. But given the young fan base for Deepika and Saif and the the previous success of the director I guesss it would see moderate success. Not as much as his previous venture but still it will be succesful.
Actually I started writing this as my blog 'Yet another weekend' but ended up reviewing the movie 'Love aaj kal'.So I guess better title will be Love aaj kal-review.By the way only recently writing has been exciting me and I have not read/write much before. So bare with me for mistakes or anything offensive.
