MOM : BOLLYWOOD MUSIC REVIEW

Image
We in India tend to forget that the film music composers are giving us film music albums and not their own music albums.I always hear my friends say ARR hasnt done well in this album when they dont get any melodious love song or a rock/metal rhythm song etc. I thought I will review MOM movie's music (more of a first impression really) and see what happens..  O Sona Tere Liye: A typical ARR adagio melody about a mom's wishes for her daughter that slowly grows on you with an enduring quality. Yes we have heard it before but the way he blows freshness in to every song is amazing: It was the same window; It was the Same season; It was evening again; but today the wind was magically different! Kooke Kawn: An interesting attempt/experiment.  It has the energy of a party song and interesting 'crow calls' but I am not sure why it fell flat to me personally..May be I have to l...

One day in 2003. . .

This is a real incident that happened.Time, date mentioned are not accurate. And to many, the year may not matter but it might to Some of you.It was first half of 2003. Time: 11:15 AM                  Hearing my answer some of the girls of my class giggled.I was still standing with still head not interested to know who giggled. From the direction it came from I probably guessed who it could be.The teacher was clearly not expecting what I said.So he asked again what I said.I said the same name again and the class went silent waiting for me to tell them why I had told that name. ---------------------------x----------------------------                           Those days I was not a movie freak as I am now.I used to see movies only when I am really stressed out..like after semester exams or during festival time. But I was the same die hard cricket fan and followed the ga...

Pakistan Cricket-where a 'Haiti' like disaster strikes almost everyday!

(Writern for sportskeeda.com) It's a cliched saying in the educational institutions or by Counselors working on your confidence "You are talented and you have a very good potential and you will do well if you concentrate and work hard". Well, it may well be the advice that Pakistan cricket badly needs at the moment! Yes, Pakistan Cricket’s problem is perennial and just never seems to be ending. Unlike some countries like West Indies where there’s a serious dearth of talent, Pakistan seems to be enjoying a regular supply of young talents . And if their colts’ performance in the recently concluded U19 world cup (where they finished runner up to Australia) is any indication, there’s going to be no stoppage in the supply of good talent in the near future. Infact, of late ,their performance in the tournament has been quite exemplerary, when they had won twice and came second once in the last four editions. Blessed with such good young talents, you would naturally expect them...

The Cricket-The beautiful game

It was late 1990s('98 or '99).As the clock went past 8 I became fidgety as I had to go to school before 9:00.No not because I did not finish my homework.(Somedays I eluded, got punished some other days, but it never corncerned me(that I did not finish my homework) or occupied my mind). There was some other reason that day.Ding Ding!'Cycle bell Sound'...Sound which I had been waiting to hear,The guy who distribute the dailies!Ya, I had been waiting for 'The Hindu' that day because that was the only way I knew what happened the previous day at the final of the India's premier(and historic) domestic competition The Ranji Trophy(named after Shri.Ranjit Singhji a great batsman(played for England) and a King during the 1900s). During those days there were no full time commited Indian news channels like today (which has opinion on almost anything and everything) and cricket's market was stil in its infant stage and there was no comprehensive coverage of the dome...

A study of past recessions

http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2009/01/26/business/economy/20090126-recessions-graphic.html A very informative link which studies all the major recession(in US) since the great depression! The theory of keynes's (keynesian economics) in combating recession which supports the circulation of money by goverment (bu buying or reducing rates) was titled not pragmatic as it virtually had no effect during the recession in 1960 till the economy recovered, was again endorsed in 1980 when Reagan reduced the regulations and introduced tax cut which increased the spending and it(increased spending) led to recovery the very next year.(In 1960 it had taken a lot of time to have effect). The credit crunch in 1990 caused by the tight monetary policy (to combat the rising inflation) was again restored when Alan(then fed Chairman) cut the federal funds rate several times(sometimes boldly as Glen Hubbard puts it :) ).It was the same story(in combating) in 2001 when GDP falls though this tim...
