The unforgiving Roorkee's weather God.....

(A very short poem on Roorkee's weather) Before i could get used to the extreme humidity, This sudden deluge has doused me so bad That for those sunny days I prayed(asked)... Loud and crystal clear the response was... Welcome to Roorkee said its weather God, After warning me abt the rough winter, coming soon :)

Inception of our journey with DOMS

(written for a newsletter in D.O.M.S,IIT Roorkee)      A journey of thousand miles start with a single step. So did ours,a huge defining step in our careers. As we were walking towards DOMS, with every step excitement coupled with apprehensions increased.Adrenaline rushed. It was the best walk we have had in this high humid weather till now. When we shifted our focus from the lush green campus to allow ourselves a generous look at all the new faces of our batch girls we knew in  our hearts that this journey of thousand miles is not just going to be rigorous but also pleasant.     We were in our classes then, still no relief from the high humidity when we got the first sight of our professors of Department Of Management Studies(DOMS).Prof.Nangia sir is the only face most of us could recognize as we were in his panel for the interview for admission. It wasnt long before he started introducing all the Professors. Then they gave a short introduction of themselves.Soon we realized what all those

[Tamil poem]

[Poem]Our withering unstable life...

An occasional inspiration...A new poem... Location:Sitting on the park bench Closer to death we are with every passing day, Just like the distance falling between us now, Even as I am gazing, for she is falling now... And I decided to break the silence between us... How tough was the Sun's ogling in summer? No repartee... Or was the numbness hard in winter?I continued.. How strong were the wind trying to sequester you? Or burdensome was it when the rain drops sat on u? And all (these) times you subsist only to fall On a overcast day when in its shelter Hides the cruel sun, while the wind rests on the clouds? Deign to answer, wont ye?ye sweet, peaceful leaves(souls)....

latest update-Feb 27th :)

Hmm..feels like 't was long back since I last blogged.Incidentally it also means that I wasnt bored of late.In fact, last couple of weeks has been pretty interesting. Trip to Delhi on Feb 3rd week was real fun!Though it took me abt 2 days to get used to the quite low(10 deg) temp at nights(which I have never been in before), after that it was real fun. Places with historical link always excite me and IIT-R was no exception.Huge campus...many new buildings..lots of studens..very few girls [:(]..spacious hostels with inet.. .The DOMS' seniors were very cordial in helping us with accomodation in hostel and other routines. It was a good experience. And you know, as soon as I reached Chennai I was sweating on a fairly cool night(by Chennai stds.) weather wise...Dosa n Idli tasted delicious after days naans and rotis (with daal) and I am starting to feel bored in Chennai already.Am in a sort of a conundrum whether to go to Blore or to Nellai now. Will decide soon. Guess what?I hav

Pakistan Cricket-where a 'Haiti' like disaster strikes almost everyday!

(Writern for sportskeeda.com) It's a cliched saying in the educational institutions or by Counselors working on your confidence "You are talented and you have a very good potential and you will do well if you concentrate and work hard". Well, it may well be the advice that Pakistan cricket badly needs at the moment! Yes, Pakistan Cricket’s problem is perennial and just never seems to be ending. Unlike some countries like West Indies where there’s a serious dearth of talent, Pakistan seems to be enjoying a regular supply of young talents . And if their colts’ performance in the recently concluded U19 world cup (where they finished runner up to Australia) is any indication, there’s going to be no stoppage in the supply of good talent in the near future. Infact, of late ,their performance in the tournament has been quite exemplerary, when they had won twice and came second once in the last four editions. Blessed with such good young talents, you would naturally expect them

Booring..boring..25/01/2010

Yesterday.... Hmm,So what's up friends?Well they say that 'Nothing is impossible' and how true??I am just finding out that sitting idle and useless and doing nothing is the most difficult thing to do.If life was boring last week it just got worse this week and after missing out on calls from SCMHRD by 3 marks and IB course from SIIB(well it always happens with me..) I wasnt in the best of the moods yesterday! So decided to watch some movies to feel good. First up,Naanayam.A cliched hollywood style twisted plot though rarely seen in Tamil cinemas, and average performances (esp. the female lead, whom Prasanna romances, I thought was terrible) didnt make a spectacular viewing. But the two male heroes were (sort of)ok and they carry the movie.Heist is my favourite genre and having seen an awful lot of movies of this genre i found it cliched and mundane. But anyone who havent seen much of this genre will find it really exciting and if u r just a typical Tamil cinema's fan, here&

21 Jan 2010--A look into a day in my life!

Hmm..It's 21st Jan 2010 and 3:33 PM 25 sec and counting now...Why I am telling you this??Bcoz am bored!Bored like hell.So I thought I would scribble abt how the day went..So it will be! The room was full of Jasmine's fragrance as sweet as her.she was sitting opposite me looking as spicy as the biriyani we just had.It is amazing how girls could look so pert even after a long day.Hmm,I wonder if girls should thank the cosmetics or the cosmetic business should thank them! It was around 11:30 in the night and we were just done with our dinner in 'You name it' restraunt and now it was time to go home. And when she puts that gorgeous smile on her face (perhaps) for one last time before we depart, something struck me!What was happening??I want to kiss her!Oh,common.. I cant!Well... Why not??'cold war in the mind' uff!!Tring tring..Tring tring...Now what?Who knows!!May be I would have known what it feels like to kiss a girl if my cell didnt ring! My hands scr

[Movie Review]Yet another (movie) treat..have u guessed it?

Though, these days in real life am very bored, the reel stories I have been seeing on screen of late have been quite exemplary.Last week I told you abt how my 'Avatar' dream was a visual spectacle and today was yet another treat but this time the difference is that Selvaraghavan took me on a journey back in time to meet the Cholas of the 12th century and the journey was brutal with hidden dangers like spate of snakes, indigenous tribes etc and it was washed with blood and more blood!Ya,the journey was 'Aayirathil Oruvan'. There are lots of things new about this movie which is very refreshing to see in Tamil cinema(Kollywood).[I dont know why but i like it as 'Tamil cinema' rather than kollywood].The first thing was the genre which (I would say) was history/war/fiction genre. The next refreshing thing to see was that it was not a hero/heroine(2 heroines) going on this dangerous journey, romancing along the way but rather this is 3 different characters(A forrest

[Movie Review]Avatar--a real dream!

After days of viral fever and a marathon exam schedule,I was tired mentally and physically when i lay down on my seat! And soon I was seeing floating mountains, wierd flying creatures, bright neon like glowing structures, exotic flowers u have hardly seen before,a tree of souls through which u can speak to your forefathers and many more...The dream was chimerical. The dream was pleasant and eye catching. The dream was 'Avatar'. But sooner or later though you have to wake up and you just cant ignore the facts . The same old hackneyed story of 'Man Vs Alien' and the same old characters we have read and have seen in many old classics. No price for guessing what Cameron was concentrating on in this million dollar venture. This is not a movie made on just a wild thought. This is cerebral. In this 3 long hours episode he introduces us to a unique/wierd race and as the protagonist learn from the female lead in the story abt their traditions and culture you would too but after abt 70/
