One very ordinary game(BRC Vs RR) and another great game(PKXI Vs CSK) !

I did not have plesant memories of CSK Vs PKXI encounters [personally, its more like a local derby for me :) ]as I still remember being the lone disappointed man to see Punjab knocked out by CSK(in semis last year ) even as my friends celebrate! This game though was really a good match still did not erase those memories(Urgh)!!In fact it was when Chennai took on Punjab for the first time(last year) that I discovered(felt) that I am more a Punjab fan than a Chennai fan(Dont ask me why...Honestly, I dnt knw :( ,may be because Punjab has more of my fav players than Chennai... ]

Set a target of 186 in 18 overs(by CSK) who would have fancied them(Punjab) chasing it down...Honestly,not me!I thought that they(Punjab) let Dhoni n Hayden get away in the last few overs as they got abt 10/20 runs extra. But what a chase by Punjab! The total which (always) looked huge gradually became manageable(via some poor fielding by CSK) and with 43 required off 24 balls,(and 2 set batsman in the crease)for the first time I pondered over a possibility of a Punjab win!

The thought(like a fairy tale story) did not last long as the next over by Raina(Dhoni got it bang on by choosing to go with less pace and let it rip, that seems to be the trend...) cost just 4 runs! The irony is that they were able to get Murali away easily but Raina's flatter rippers were too good! The next 2 overs,8 off Balaji (no boundaries) and 6 off Raina(all singles) sealed the game for them!CSK won by 12 runs! For Punjab Katich,Yuvi and Jayawardene were the main contributors!Though Yuvi and Mahela were there til the end they could not finish it!Earlier for CSK Hayden continued his deadly form making 86 off 58 and a blistering 56 by Dhoni and a brief 32 by Raina help them post 184 off 18 Overs!

The other match RR Vs BRC was one of the most one sided match with BRC making just 105 and RR got there with 5 overs to spare thanks to N.Ojha's 50 and it looked like yet another disappointing day of cricket till rain was threatening to wash out during CSK's innings!IBut what a game was in store!By the way,It was a good move to scrap off the timeout break in rain curtailed matches!Nice to see cricket being put first! In fact with the latest developments its hard to imagine IPL as an BCCI organised Indian domestic tournament!(atleast it is supposed to be...).I strongly beleive that for IPL to (sustain genuine interest)survive in long term teams should build a close regional connection(with their state cricket board) and strong regional/international fans!

CSK bt PKXI by 12 runs.
RR bt BRC by 7 wickets.
